Happy New Year

Apologies for the long silence. Between a heavy work load and ill health, I haven't been in a position to add any blog posts or recordings. I still have the lurgy, so this is a very short upload of a new and suitably wintery poem inspired by the myths of the goddess Cailleach - who spreads winter as she walks about the land.


I hope you all have had a good winter, however you may celebrate it, and enjoyed the New Year. I really do hope that 2015 is an improvement on 2014!

    Ooh that's powerful. I've also seen it in print on the Moon Blog. Some fantastic images and very effective opening and closing with silence.

    Thanks, it's the early Irish poetic custom to end the poem with a word or line that echoes the opening sentence.

 This is my reading of the tenth part of Lucy M Boston's "The Children of Green Knowe" (1954), in which Tolly has an encounter with the (only mildly) menacing spectre of a cursed tree. There's also some Christmas shopping, if you can bear the prospect at this time of year and are not sick to the back teeth of shopping.
